woah...havnt updated in ages!! sorry to everyone who reads this, well the one person i know who might read this, and all you others out there who just read it coz they found my name and thought my other posts were awsome, the whole 0 of ya oh yeah. well i went on holiday during the easter break, great fun, down in whitby, near scarborough and york. went with friends that i know coz they are the family of a couple of my dads friends from school (heres a easier explanation, dad goes to school meets friends, they all have families and stay in touch, im friends with their sons and daughters) great, best friends. so yea, hanging around with them every day is great coz i never see them, one family lives in england whilst the other lives in seafield (not the one at edinburgh with the whole sewage thing thankfully, but still closer to edinburgh than me :-(. )
ah well, it was great to see them anyway, went out walking their dogs, both families have a cairn terrier, great, fun, bouncy, happy, if a little bit stupid, little dogs. then one day we went to flamingoland...just to let you in on a little secret..iv never been on a rollercoaster before in my life, been too scared, kinda ruined my experience of florida those 3 years... but because they were there with me i was forced onto all the rollercoasters and other scary rides that the had, upside downers corkscrews and the big tower thing that fires you up then lets you fall straight back down, leaving your guts still at the top. but im thankful coz now i can go on them whenever i see one, im still scared but at least i know im not going to puke when im on it. little bit of background info on whitby now, its one of the 2 or 3 places in the world where you can find genuine jet, the fossilised remains of monkey puzzle trees from the jurrasic period. its a black (jet black..there now you know where that comes from) practically weightless stone/tree thing that when polished can be used as a mirror and will never lose its shine, looks really good in jewellery but costs an absolute bomb. so i picked up a chunk off the beach that could have been made into loadsa wee earings and neclaces that when sold all finished could have got a good £200. the lump as it is was evaluated at £5, just goes to show what good craftsmanship will get you.
i also went into scarborough one day, went a walk along the beach and everyhting, bringing back memories of my childhood. found something very cool too.....quicksand!! there was a small freshwater spring under the sand that was pouring up through the sand creating a wee pool up near the top of the beach, you could see the water coming up, and when we dropped a stone into the flow of water it disappeared instantaniously, a stone near the edge slowly sank down, twas amazing
anyway now to get to the whole meaning of the title of this post....i gave blood. im very please with myself, not nearly as bad as i thought it would have been but still painful nonetheless. but my donation has gone on to save or better up to 3 lives, and i am immensly proud of that fact. cant wait to get to my dads level. hes given about 54 times now so has saved or bettered the lives of up to 162 people, how about that my dads a life saver.
